Next up this month is 5 minutes with our Hospitality Manager, Emma Medley
1. What do you feel is the biggest challenge you are facing within your division right now?
Probably the same challenges the whole country is facing right now! Our division relies on the hospitality industry thriving... Given the rising costs of absolutely everything necessary to run a business, some of our customers are having a rough ride... which is very sad. But.. I’ll leave it at that – don’t want to get too political!!
2. What hospitality trends will you see for the end of 2022/2023?
I think we will see street food continue to increase in popularity. Specifically, food halls where groups can gather and sample street food and drinks from different vendors. One of our customers JKS did this perfectly with Arcade Food Hall on Oxford Street. They are also opening the new Battersea power station next year, which looks amazing.
3. What goal do you have for your team over the next 12 months?
Grow grow grow!
In 2019 we had 3 account managers in the hospitality division, now we have 11. We are introducing new suppliers and expanding our product offering all the time... so I’ve got high hopes!
4. What does a typical day look like for you?
Every day is different. I usually get into the office and have 15 minutes of peace to go through the figures before the team gets in and the chaos unfolds! Then it can be anything from problem-solving to training to organising staff incentives.
5. What do you enjoy most about your role at Premvan?
I love seeing my team grow and develop. It’s so cliché, but we are a big family here. I’ve been here since I was 18 years old, and in 10 years, I’ve grown from a sales support apprentice to a sales manager with a team of 12 people. I like to see my team heading in the same direction, whether they want to move into management or continue to be successful account managers and grow their account bases.
6. What is a fun fact about yourself?
I have two working dogs, a Doberman and a Belgian Malinois. They are my giant babies and my protectors rolled into one!
